    Summary dose.wiki Erowid PsychonautWiki

Mirtazapine (trade name Remeron and Mirta TAD, among others) is an antidepressant substance of the piperazinoazepine class. At high doses, it has been reported to act as an atypical psychedelic and sedative. It is classified as a noradrenergic and specific serotonergic antidepressant (NaSSA).

Formal human data on tolerance are limited. Clinically, sedation often diminishes over 1–4 weeks of regular nightly dosing (partial tolerance), while antidepressant benefits generally require sustained dosing and do not show euphoric tolerance patterns. No reliable evidence for cross‑tolerance with classic serotonergic psychedelics; many reports suggest mirtazapine blunts them. Data quality is mainly clinical observation and user reports.

    Effects Erowid

Aggregated from 37 single-substance Erowid experience reports; 29 Erowid reports where another drug was taken too are left out

Each bar shows the share of analyzed reports whose text mentions that effect — a mention is not always a first-hand experience (fear of an effect or something witnessed can count). Mentions saying the effect did not happen are left out; that check reads keywords, so it can miss some. The shaded band on a bar, and the small range after its number, is the 95% interval: where the share could plausibly be with other reports of the same kind. Fewer reports, wider band. Tap or hover any number for details. The second value is the Bluelight extractor's per-effect confidence; a dash means the row is Erowid-derived, which has no confidence measurement.

Also reported in combinations. In the 29 Mirtazapine reports where another drug was taken too, 4 (13.8%) mention hospital, emergency services or an overdose, 1 (3.4%) a seizure and 3 (10.3%) psychosis. In the 37 single-substance reports: 5.4%, 0.0% and 0.0%. One or more of the three comes up more often in the combination reports (27.6% against 5.4%), by more than chance would explain; that does not show the combination caused it. These are not in the figures above: they cannot be put down to Mirtazapine alone, and a mention is not always something that happened to the writer.

I was near the end of a bad love affair with alcohol, and almost feeling like I was coming to the end of my life, because I just love alcohol so much, but she wasn't letting me use her anymore.

This particular drug had been gathering dust on the top shelf of the cabinet for quite some time. In fact, I didn’t even know of its “recreational” potential until I discovered its web page while taking an inventory of every drug in my house.

I suffer from what seems to be or IS fibromalgia and/or similiar muscular/skeletal tension problems. This causes me not horrid pain, but it causes me a form of pain that is constant, throughout my whole body, and is a pain that does not ever go away - EVER.

A few months before, I was taking Zoloft (SSRI), and it worked but it was keeping me up at night, and while I felt decent mentally, I did not have any energy. The fact that I was taking Xanax along with Zoloft to sleep was not helping.

I have suffered with obsessive compulsive disorder, or OCD, since I was 14-years-old. The obsessions’ stubbornness to abate and also their inherently irrational nature quickly led me to also suffer with anxiety, panic attacks, and depression.
