    Summary PsychonautWiki

Risperidone (also known as Risperdal) is an atypical antipsychotic medication of the benzisoxazole chemical class. Risperidone is prescribed for bipolar disorder, autism, and psychotic disorders, such as in schizophrenia. It is sometimes used as a sedative to reduce the effects of psychedelics like LSD and to induce sleepiness.

    Effects Erowid

Aggregated from 11 single-substance Erowid experience reports; 22 Erowid reports where another drug was taken too are left out

Each bar shows the share of analyzed reports whose text mentions that effect — a mention is not always a first-hand experience (fear of an effect or something witnessed can count). Mentions saying the effect did not happen are left out; that check reads keywords, so it can miss some. The shaded band on a bar, and the small range after its number, is the 95% interval: where the share could plausibly be with other reports of the same kind. Fewer reports, wider band. Tap or hover any number for details. The second value is the Bluelight extractor's per-effect confidence; a dash means the row is Erowid-derived, which has no confidence measurement.

Too few reports for bars: these effects come from 11 single-substance Erowid reports, and a bar is drawn only from 20 reports or more. With fewer, a percentage cannot tell a common effect from a rare one. Counts are shown instead. Why 20?

Also reported in combinations. In the 22 Risperidone reports where another drug was taken too, 5 (22.7%) mention hospital, emergency services or an overdose, 2 (9.1%) a seizure and 9 (40.9%) psychosis. In the 11 single-substance reports: 5, 0 and 4. These are not in the figures above: they cannot be put down to Risperidone alone, and a mention is not always something that happened to the writer.

    Insanity Preferred cautionary exp #32443

In my case, the main reason I was prescribed Risperdone was for my constant delusions. When I first the pills, I knew nothing about them. I actually thought they were sleeping pills, because I had told my doctor that I had been suffering from insomnia among other things.

20 Weeks of Hell cautionary exp #65184

I was given Risperidone as a 'mood stabiliser' after becoming bipolar. Initially I was in a mental health ward and I noticed a few affects right away. I was playing chess on a palm pilot and the game seemed to slow up and speed down.

Seduced by the Vixen of Emptiness positive exp #42396

I would like to start you off with some background information on myself. About 3 years ago I was diagnosed as having an obsessive compulsive narcissistic personality disorder. My mind is plagued with ego-based delusional philosophy/perceptions of reality and extremely violent sexual fantasies (my mind is never calm).

Reactions to Risperidone cautionary exp #80079

I took risperidone for, I'm not sure, a few months. It was prescribed, mostly, for hallucinations during manic episodes of bipolar disorder, when I would hear, see and feel things that did not exist. The one thing I can say for sure was that there was a very real sense of duality.

Cardboard Mind Heart and Loins cautionary exp #60366

Imagine you had to eat cardboard. It would become for you a little bland, methinks. This is how life is becoming stuck on a risperdal treadmill. I got trapped amongst the mental health regime due to my parents demanding that I see a psych, after condemning my trying recreational drugs.

This antipsychotic drug is given mostly to people suffering schizophrenia and is most likely given to someone relating to any psychotic symptoms, auditory (or visual) hallucinations, etc.

It was in July of 2002 when I had my first psychotic episode, consisting of auditory hallucinations. In October I was prescribed Risperidone (Risperdal) to combat the schizophrenia, and during the time of my first experience with the drug, was hospitalized for safety reasons at a psychiatric clinic during the period wh...

    Apathetic 9-11 cautionary exp #62573

I used to have nightmares every night, without fail, really awful ones. My psychiatrist assured me they would subside due to my new regimen of trazodone, but they never did. He decided to prescribe me Risperdol. I felt a bit awkward, like he was implying that I was psychotic.
