Gaboxadol has been a compound I've been eager to try since the vatic psychopharmacological ectomorph Hamilton Morris wrote about in Harper's. Oceanic sleep has been a dream of mine since I was a child; I've been tormented by night tremors for over a decade, and bouts of insomnia have been recurrent throughout my teenag...

Summary
Gaboxadol (THIP) is a direct-acting GABA-A receptor agonist developed by Lundbeck and Merck as an experimental sleep aid. Clinical trials were discontinued in 2007 due to narrow therapeutic index and psychiatric side effects at effective doses. Unlike benzodiazepines, it acts as an orthosteric agonist at the GABA binding site with preferential activity at extrasynaptic Ξ΄ subunit-containing receptors.

Tolerance
No tolerance chart. Our decay curves for these drugs were estimates, and a curve can make tolerance look longer-lasting than it is, which is the dangerous direction.
How fast tolerance to these drugs fades after a break has not been measured well enough to draw, so don't count on a dose you used to take still being safe: after time off, start with a much smaller amount and don't use alone. Mixing sedatives with each other, with alcohol or with opioids sharply raises the risk of a fatal overdose. If you've been using regularly, don't stop suddenly: withdrawal from benzodiazepines, alcohol or GHB/GBL can cause seizures or delirium, so get medical help to cut down gradually.

Gaboxadol is a structural derivative of the alkaloid Muscimol, a constituent of the pharmacological cocktail in the Amanita muscaria species of mushroom. A powerful, yet non-reinforcing hypnotic agent (unlike benzodiazepines, which are often prescribed for insomnia), Gaboxadol never found its way into any pharmaceutica...

Import into PsychonautWiki Journal
The PsychonautWiki Journal app includes Gaboxadol, but its built-in data can be thinner than ours. Importing this file adds a separate "Gaboxadol (Substance Search)" custom substance with our dose ranges and durations, so you can log against whichever you prefer. It leaves tolerance out on purpose, for the reason given under Tolerance above.
Ranges are harm-reduction guidance, not a prescription.
